Moving from the Per Domain Reseller Plan to a Bulk Reseller Plan

The Bulk Reseller plans are a brand new service that we just released. Although we don't have a method in place to migrate you from the current Reseller (now called the Per Domain Reseller plan) to a Bulk Reseller plan, you can certainly attempt to do this yourself:

Here is what you need to be aware of:

IMPORTANT: If you are using your Virtual Name Servers, and have client domains currently using those name servers, you should point all client domain names to our name servers (ns.thisismyserver.com and ns2.thisismyserver.com) for this transition. The way Virtual Name Servers generally work, the top level domain name of those name servers needs to actually be pointed to the Virtual Name Servers themselves. Otherwise problems will often (though not always) arise for all domains pointed to those name servers.

Once you've moved all domains to the new H-Sphere system, you can then point your client domain names to your new Virtual Name Servers (in H-Sphere they're called "Server Aliases") safely.

NOTES:
Stats/Transfer logs can not make the transition
SmartECart can not (at this time) make the transition
AlaCart can not make the transition
MySQL dbhost will be "209.183.220.8" instead of "localhost"
The path to files may change
Sites created in SiteBuilder can not make the move
Real Audio/Video support is not currently available
Email username format will change from "bob" to "bob@domain.com". Mail client settings will need to be changed to reflect this difference.

Step 1: Backup
- Copy all data from old site (HTML files, images, scripts, etc.)
- Backup all web content to your PC or to a CD or disk
- Backup any MySQL databases (if you want us to help you with this we can)
- Note all Email account settings (usernames, passwords, forwarding, etc.)
- If you have any SSL or Cert keys, let us know and we can provide them to you to install on the new system.

Step 2: Getting Setup
- Order and setup your H-Sphere account (note: use the "Getting Started" articles in the Bulk Reseller support section)
- Create each domain (including your own domain) after setting up your Reseller account
- Setup MySQL databases through your control panels
- Setup each email account on each domain.
- Setup your Virtual Name Servers (called "server aliases" in H-Sphere control panel)

Step 3: Uploading
- Copy over all data (MySQL databases)
- Copy over site files (HTML, images, etc.)

Step 4: Test all sites at your new location. Make sure your clients are aware of the new username format for email boxes.

Step 5: Domain Name Changes
- Change the DNS settings with your registrar for any domain names you have registered:
dns1.thisismyserver.net (209.183.220.8)
dns2.thisismyserver.net (209.183.220.9)
(change virtual name servers if you have them registered)

Step 6: Wait 2-3 days before deleting files from the Per Domain Reseller plan, after you have verified that your new sites are coming up in browsers by their names.
